Methods for High-order Multi-Scale and Stochastic Problems Analysis, Algorithms, and Applications

The project focused on the development, analysis, implementation, and application of efficient and high-order accurate methods formulti-scale and stochastic problems. Research focused on three topics: (1) High order weighted essentially non-oscillatory finite difference and finite volume schemes,discontinuous Galerkin finite elementmethod, and related methods, for solving computational fluid dynamics (CFD) problems and otherapplications containing strong shock waves and complicated smooth region structures.(2) Development of higher order piecewise polynomial approximation for finite element methods.(3) The development of methods of simulation and analysis for the study of large scale stochastic systemsof weakly interacting particles.
